2022 Little League Baseball World Series: Results, results as Hawaii beat Curacao for the championship

Hawaii carved its way to the 2022 World Baseball Championship title on Sunday afternoon, defeating Curaçao 13-3 in Williamsport, Pennsylvania. Hawaii, representing the western region of the United States, had a dominant role in the 20-team tournament. The Honolulu Little League outperformed opponents 60-5 and went 6-0. Hawaii defeated Tennessee in the United States title match on Saturday.

Curaçao, from the Caribbean, won the international tournament against Chinese Taipei, but failed on Sunday. Hawaii hit back-to-back runs to lead the home half of the first inning, then put in seven runs in the third to blow up the game. This is the fourth junior world title for a team from Hawaii, and the second in the last four competitions.

The Little League Baseball World Series celebrated its 75th anniversary in 2022, and the event featured international participants for the first time since 2019. LLWS 2020 has been canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Only American teams were allowed to participate in 2021 when Taylor’s North Little League of Michigan won the championship. Fans were also welcomed back into the stands this year, with only a limited number of family members allowed in 2021 with COVID-19 safety precautions. The MLB Little League Classic was held on Sunday, August 21, With the Orioles defeating the Red Sox.
