Colin Large’s big hit on the right court deck was the biggest hit on a night filled with them as the Buffalo Bison beat the Gwinnett Strippers, 10-7, on Wednesday in the series opening at Sahlin Field.
Large’s blast in the fourth round featured a five-stroke run and put Bison’s team in charge, 7-1. It was his sixth championship of the season and seventh major for Buffalo, the most since he racked up nine titles in 2004.
Vinnie Capra added a two-stroke Homer in the sixth inning, and Yoshi Tsutsugo’s single shot in the second half cut Bison (67-62) on a two-game losing streak. Buffalo had 11 hits and six went for extra bases.
Ozzy Albis, the second player for the Atlanta Braves, after breaking a foot in June, went 1 for 5 by three strokes while edging Gwinnett. Hernan Pérez went 3 for 5 with two runs at home for the Stripers, including a three-stroke shot in the ninth inning. The teams play again on Thursday afternoon at 1:05.

To celebrate their first full season at Buffalo since 2019, the Bison announced that all tickets will be $10 for Fan Appreciation Week, scheduled for September 20-25 against Rochester.
Additional promotions have been added for each of the six games, marked by Kids Eat and Cheer Free Games starts at 1:05 p.m. on September 24 and 25. All children 14 years of age or younger will receive a free ticket when purchasing an adult ticket at the box office on match day. Upon entering the Swan Street gate, children will receive a voucher for a free Sahlen hot dog and a Coca-Cola soft drink.
On September 20, there will be an expanded “TWOsday” menu featuring $2 for peanuts, nachos, candy and ice cream. On September 21, the Win-it Wednesday prize for a Bison win will be a buy one, get three free tickets to any of the remaining four games.
