Cowboys sign old LT contender Jason Peters with Tyrone Smith exit

FRISCO, Texas (AP) – Four years ago, Jason Peters saw the Dallas Cowboys as arrogant.

Now that the All-Pro team has twice joined the Philadelphia Eagles for the Cowboys, Peters calls it “the show-off.”

Hey, a man can change, especially with the ever-evolving NFL rosters.

“You can’t blame me,” Peters said on Monday after signing a one-year contract with a club that needed help with left-handed interference. “We were competitors.”

Dallas hopes the 40-year-old Peters can help make up for the loss of eight-time Pro Bowler Tyrone Smith, who will likely miss until at least December with a torn hamstring. Peters is joining the team’s coaching staff and may not be ready for Sunday night’s opener against Tampa Bay.
