Giannis is rested as Greece enters the knockout stage of the European Basketball Championships

Milan (AFP) – Giannis Anticonmo took leave today. Greece entered the EuroBasket knockout stage without him.

Costa Slukas scored 21 points, Georgios Papagiannis added 17 and Greece pulled away in the second half to lead Great Britain 93-77 in Monday’s Group C match.

Antetokounmpo is expected to play in at least one of Greece’s last two group stage matches, with the first match taking place on Tuesday against Ukraine. The knockout round begins in Berlin on Saturday.

“He is ready and will play tomorrow,” Greece coach Dimitris Etodis said after Monday’s match. “He had a little bit of discomfort in his knee, nothing major. … We didn’t want to risk anything so we decided not to get dressed today.”

Kostas Papanicolaou and Mikhail Laontzis each got 10 for Greece, which is now in the top four in the group. There are four groups with six teams in each in the EuroBasket, with the top four leaders in each group heading to the knockout stage.
