Guardians beat royals by 10 to suffocate, reclaim top spot

KANSAS CITY, MO (AP) – Oscar Gonzalez doubled up his 10th inning and the Cleveland Guardians’ five-game losing streak, defeating the Kansas City Royals 6-5 Monday night to regain sole control of the AL Central lead.

Cleveland advanced with a game against Minnesota, who lost 5-2 to the New York Yankees. Third place Chicago White Sox is one game behind the Twins.

Josh Naylor played on the goalkeeper, and Andres Jimenez scored two goals.

Cleveland freshman Triston Mackenzie admitted the victory was a relief to the Guardians.
