Musgrove 6, Homers Campusano, Padres go blank D-back 2-0

Phoenix (AFP) – Luis Camposano made his first game of the season, Joe Musgrove won for the second time in three months and the San Diego Padres beat the Arizona Diamondbacks 2-0 on Saturday.

Camposano’s single shot capped the fourth inning of two rounds, and Musgrove lost (10-7) four strokes in six runs before the Bulls took over.

Musgrove scored eight goals and didn’t issue a gait while winning for the second time since June 16, when he set his record 8-0 with a 6-4 win over the Chicago Cubs. His only victory since then was a 5-4 victory over San Francisco on August 31.

“I wouldn’t feel very comfortable saying I figured it out and he’s staying here,” said Musgrove, who made 95 throws. “But you go out and throw 100 pitches at maximum effort and the delivery is effective, and it’s easy to maintain that feeling and your body knows that’s what it wants to do. I think it’s going to pay off.”

San Diego moved in the Philadelphia half game for the second wild card NL and stayed 1 1/2 games ahead of Milwaukee for third and final place. Atlanta beat the Phillies 4-3 and the Milwaukee New York Yankees topped the New York Yankees 4-1 earlier on Saturday.

Nick Martinez threw two excellent shorts comfortably, and Josh Hader beat Jake McCarthy’s single in the ninth inning to save him 33 on 36 chances.
