Parker helps Sky beat Sun 76-72, leads the group 2-1

UNCASVILLE, Connecticut (AP) – With the game in the balance, Candice Parker and the Chicago Sky raised their defenses and came away with a big transition win within one win to return to the WNBA Finals for the second year in a row.

Parker scored 16 points, earned 11 rebounds, Kahleh Cooper added 15 points, and Sky beat the Connecticut Sun 76-72 on Sunday in Game Three of the NBA Semifinals. The Sky leads best of five series 2-1.

Parker, who has tied Tamika Catchings in the most double playoffs with 27, said. “I think the biggest thing was sometimes in years past, we’re going to play great defense and give up the offensive board. Tonight we were able to finish the play.”

The Copper Index 3 with the left 6:14 gave Chicago a 66-64 lead. Then it was hard to get to the attack: Neither team scored for nearly 4 minutes until Emma Messmann hit the ball in the corner to widen the lead to four with 2:26 left.

Connecticut missed eight shots in a row during that point-free period until Courtney Williams hit the crosser after 40 seconds.
