Sosa, Segura, Walter Bauer Phillies beat Marlins 4-3

Philadelphia (AP) – Edmundo Sosa came back for game two in a row and finished with three hits and three RBIs, Billy Walter’s fourth straight starting win and lift the Philadelphia Phillies to a 4-3 win over the Miami Marlins on Wednesday night.

Jan Segura also finished for the Phillies (75-61), who are in a hypothetical tie with San Diego (76-62) in the second and third race for the wild card spots. Milwaukee is back four games. The Phillies have a playoff breakout over the Brewers based on their 4-3 season series record, factoring in this year’s first without a regular season tiebreaker to determine playoff points.

The Phillies have not played in the playoffs since 2011, the longest drought in the National League and the second longest drought in the MLS after 21 seasons in Seattle.

Jacob Stallings had two hits, including Homer’s solo in ninth from undercut Conor Brugdon who pulled Miami in one round. Brogdon allowed an even run on base before ending his second rescue of the season.

Charles LeBlanc and Garrett Cooper have two hits for Miami, who have lost nine in a row for the first time since May 2013.
