The match between Dinamo Zagreb and Chelsea was not among the visitors to the Premier League, as Mislav Orcic’s first-half goal helped the Croatian side to a 1-0 win on Tuesday in their first appearances in the group stage of the 2022-23 UEFA Champions League.

Thomas Tuchel was raging after the defeat, as Orcic was calm while Chelsea’s defense made several errors that led to his goal in the 13th minute.
To be fair, Tuchel was a provocateur ahead of the goal as well and finished the day with a yellow card and a place in the basement of Group A, as Red Bull Salzburg drew with AC Milan in Austria.

“I am angry with myself, I am angry with our performance,” Tuchel said, Via Football London. “That’s a huge underperformance on all of us. It’s not accurate enough. It’s not clinical enough. It’s not aggressive enough on the ball. It’s not identified enough. It’s not good enough individually. It’s not good enough.” Enough as a team.”
Chelsea retained 68 percent of the ball and fired 15 of 21 shots in the match, but only made three saves from Dinamo goalkeeper Dominic Levakovic.
To make matters worse, Tuchel claims that Dynamo did not surprise him at all; The Blues were ready and did not carry out his plan.
“We expected what we got,” Tuchel said. “It was the story of the last few matches: we started well for 15-20 minutes but after that we lacked determination, precision and maybe even the smell of blood.”
He was asked why he was angry with himself.
“Because I didn’t expect it,” Tuchel said. “Obviously I was in the wrong movie. I didn’t see that coming.” (nautical mile)

👏 Great run and finish from Orcic, but that is very weak defensively from Chelsea.

How to watch the match Dinamo Zagreb and Chelsea live and start time
The Blues are among the favorites to win the Champions League after their success in the 2020-21 season and then were knocked out in the quarter-finals last season by the eventual winner Real Madrid. However, they have a lot of new players sleeping in after a busy summer inside and out. Tuchel has been heavily backed in the transfer market by new co-owner and chairman Todd Boehly and it will take these players a few months to put together a unit. The addition of Denis Zakaria and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang in the deadline was a bonus and both have traveled with Chelsea to Croatia and could debut. However, Chelsea have to improve defensively and despite some injuries in midfield, Tuchel wants to see his side step things up dramatically after a slow start to the new season. There is a whiff of unease in the air as this is going to be a tough trip to the fiery Dinamo Zagreb who have nothing to lose. (JPW)
Information about Dinamo Zagreb
Zagreb came through the qualifying rounds and narrowly beat North Macedonia Shkope in the second round of qualifying before beating Ludogorets and then Bodo/Glimt in overtime in the play-offs to reach the group stage. Domestically, they are unbeaten and are currently at the top of the Croatian League after seven wins from their first eight matches. But in the last six times they have reached the group stage of the Champions League, they have finished last in their group on every occasion, winning only three of their last 36 group stage matches. Chelsea midfielder Mateo Kovacic returns to the club where he started his career and is a champion in Dinamo and Croatia. Bruno Petkovic and Mislva Orcic are the two strikers to watch out for. (JPW)
Chelsea team news, injuries and squad
With Aubameyang and Zacharias able to debut, Chelsea’s starting lineup looks very different with Wesley Fofana, Kalidou Koulibaly and Rahim Sterling all starting. N’Golo Kante is still injured, while veteran centre-back Thiago Silva has not traveled to Zagreb. Ben Chilwell starts on Marc Cucurella after making a major impact on the bench in his win over West Ham at the weekend, but North American Football Association star Christian Pulisic falls off the bench as Aubameyang, Sterling and Havertz start attacking.
